NEWS LETTER: DECEMBER 2013

USA Developments:
Last month our pledged monthly financial support remained at 50.8% of our budget; after adding one-time donations the Lord provided 100% of our budget—our Lord IS faithful..!

* From November 28th until December 1st, Thanksgiving weekend, we travel to California to spend Thanksgiving weekend with Karla’s sisters, Cassandra and Priscilla, and my long time friend from Venezuela, Mao Arismendi, and her family. We had a great time of sharing the love of Christ with all of them and reminiscing in the area where Karla and I met and got married.

* On December 1st we had the privilege to attend Sunday service at CC Costa Mesa, the original Calvary Chapel.

* From December 6th until December 12th we had the pleasure to receive Sara Willis into our house. We were all blessed to enjoy her company, but specially my wife, Karla. Sara and her became good friends during the time they spent working in Peru, in which they congregated with us in our church.

We are pleased to announce that we have tickets to return to the mission field of Miraflores on January 28th..! I will be finishing my work project in Las Vegas on January 7th and traveling with the family back to Florida on January 9th. There we will be visiting a couple of supporting churches in the area of Central Florida, as well as our home church in Ft. Lauderdale and Plantation, before we head back to Peru.

We are schedule to visit CC Inverness on January 12th, CC Villages on January 15th and CC Venice on January 19th. After that we will be serving our home church, CC Ft. Lauderdale, until we leave to Peru on January 28th.

Thank You, Father, for giving us the privilege to serve You as missionaries to the Latinos from Miraflores-Lima, Peru..!

Peru Developments:
The Lord continues to use our time away to provoke the people of CC Miraflores to love and good works. Several people, specially men, are stepping up to serve and sustain their church as a gateway of work for the kingdom of God.

* From November 15th until November 30th Rodolfo Monzon, the man I left in charge of the church in my absence, left on a family trip to Cajabamba. In his absence the rest of the men rose up to the occasion and kept the ministry going. It is a sign of health when the ministry of the church keeps going in spite of the absence of a few leaders.

* On November 23rd Carlos Mendoza led communion on our special Saturday service for the second time. Carlos keeps growing in the things of the Lord.

* On December 1st the congregation in Miraflores was blessed to hear the testimony and the Word of God by a guest speaker from within, Alejandro Castro. Alejandro is a soul that has been rescued into the light of God’s holiness through our ministry in Peru.

We continue to successfully oversee and minister remotely to the needs of the church back in Miraflores via high speed internet.

Online Outreach Stats (November, 2013):
* Video Ministry: 521 "Loads" and 86 "Plays" in 11 different countries (Peru, United States, Argentina, Venezuela, Spain, Ecuador, Brazil, Switzerland, Hungary, Japan and Chile--in order of most "Plays").

Furlough 2014 Needs:
* Housing: The Lord has been faithful to provide for us housing for the time we will be spending in South and Central Florida in January before heading back to Peru on January 28th. The Brown family from CC Villages offered us their cottage in Hernando, a location perfect to stay while we visit the churches that support us in the Central Florida area. Also, the Klemencic family from CC Plantation has offered to receive us in their Davie house during our time in South Florida. A big thank you to the Brown and the Klemencic for your love and hospitality..!

* Transportation: We will be in need of a reliable car, or a rental, to travel from Ft. Lauderdale to the Central Florida area from January 11th to January 19th, while we visit the churches that support us in the area. After that we will need any means of local transportation in the South Florida area from January 20th until January 27th.

Prayer Needs:
* For a fresh and empowering view of God, that we may learn to see His goodness in all places and in all things, and that His will be done in our lives.
* For our marriage, our devotional lives, and for our kids to continue to grow in their desire to know the Lord.
* For good health to all in our family.
* For God's provision to cover the medical expenses due to Samuelito's broken elbow.

* For our monthly financial support to stay at 100% of our budget.

Thank you for holding us up through your love and faithful work of intercession..!

In His love,
Andres, Karla, Sebastian, Daniel, and Samuel—the Garcia’s.

NEWS LETTER: NOVEMBER 2013

USA Developments:
Last month our pledged monthly financial support went up to 50.8% of our budget; after adding one-time donations the Lord provided 74.0% of our budget—our Lord will be proven faithful..!

* On October 19th Karla and I had the pleasure to reconnect with Priscilla, Karla’s estranged sister after 9 years of not seeing her. We spent time with her and her husband and had a huge open door to share with them the Word of God. Seize them, Lord..!

* On October 25th we successfully sold our house in Miramar, FL. We are no longer long distance landlords and feel completely free to serve the Lord oversees. The last plug was pulled… Thank you all for your prayers!

* On October 26th I had the pleasure to assist CC Costa Mesa Men’s Conference with my son Sebastian. We had a great father-son bonding time.

The Lord continues to use this downtime season to speak and give instruction for “chapter 3” of our missionary work in Peru. He is opening our eyes to new facets of His manifold grace bringing new freedoms to our own souls that we can’t wait to share with the world. We sense “chapter 3” of our ministry is going to be remarkable fuller of God’s glory and power..!

Thank You, Father, for rescuing us from the bondage of existence without You..!

The church has spontaneously started a Saturday Street Evangelism ministry led by Carlos Mendoza and Karla’s mom Mayo Schroth. Mayo is a full-time missionary that the Lord provided to help us during our furlough time in States.

I have been available in every Sunday service to open with a casual word of exhortation, as well as for prayer, questions and koinonia at the end of the service. Karla and I have been connected to the sheep in our church to minister truth in a variety of ways: email, Viber, WhatsApp, Facebook, Skype, FaceTime, etc. I, also, continue to meet weekly with the leaders of the church via Skype and Team Viewer.

Thank You, Lord, for the technology that allows us to stay connected with the congregation during our furlough turned into sabbatical..!

NEWS LETTER: OCTOBER 2013

USA Developments:
Last month our pledged monthly financial support dropped to 45.8% of our budget; after adding one-time donations the Lord provided 100% of our budget—our Lord IS faithful..!

* On September 25th our house first selling contract fell through. That same day the house went under a different contract that is set for closing on October 25th.

* On September 26th Samuelito had his cast removed and today he's doing cartwheels and using his arm like nothing ever happened. Thank you for your prayers!

* On September 29th we assisted a simulcast session of Greg Laurie's evangelistic festival Harvest America at CC Spring Valley.

Last month we've caught a glimpse of what the Lord is doing in our lives during this season in the USA, specially by having us far from home in Las Vegas, NV. The Lord has turned our furlough into a mini sabbatical and is using it to "make us to lie down in green pastures…"

During this forced downtime, isolated and away from friends and supporters, the Lord has been healing areas of our family relationships that had been fractured by intense burnout during the last three-and-a-half years of missionary service. We feel the Lord using this time to tangibly charge and prepare us to tackle "chapter 3" of our missionary work in Peru in the power of God's Spirit and not in the flimsy might of human effort.

Thank You, Father, for our lives are in Your loving and mighty hands..!

Peru Developments:
We are please to report that the Lord is using our time away to provoke the people of CC Miraflores to love and good works. Several people, specially men, are stepping up to serve and sustain their church as a gateway of work for the kingdom of God.

* On September 29th Alejandro Castro, a man of our congregation that I have been discipling to be a leader in CC Miraflores, led communion on our Sunday service.

* On October 6th the congregation in Miraflores was blessed to be taught the Word of God by a guest speaker from within, Antonio Farfan. Antonio is a key figure in the ministry Christian Surfers of Peru that has been congregating with us for a while.

We have been successfully overseeing and ministering remotely to the needs of the church back in Miraflores via high speed internet. I have been available in every Sunday service to open with a casual word of exhortation, as well as for prayer, questions and koinonia at the end of the service. Karla and I have had several counseling sessions last month including premarital and one-on-one biblical counseling. I, also, have been meeting weekly with the leaders of the church via Skype and Team Viewer.

Thank You, Lord, for the technology that allows us to stay connected with the congregation during our furlough turned into sabbatical..!

Charts of all these metrics are available here.

Furlough 2013 Needs:
* Housing: The Lord has provided a corporate apartment through my newly found temporary job in Las Vegas. This is a spacious two-bedroom apartment where Karla and the kids can comfortably do homeschooling..!

* Transportation: The Lord has provided, also through my temporary job, a rental vehicle for me to work. The downside is that this vehicle, due to company policies, cannot be driven by Karla… Please pray that someone in the local churches would lend us another vehicle--our family is much more efficient having two vehicles.

* Work: The Lord provided a temporary contracting job with Cricket Communications in Las Vegas. Cricket is a mirror company of Metro PCS, the last place I worked as an RF Engineer for more than eight years before going into the mission field. Cricket is getting bought out by AT&T next year, so they are getting their network up to specs in preparation for the buy out; hence their need for contractors and the source of my temporary job.

NEWS LETTER: SEPTEMBER 2013

Developments:
Last month our pledged monthly financial support remained at 55.8% of our budget; after adding one-time donations the Lord provided 100% of our budget—our Lord IS faithful..!

All throughout our stay in Florida during the month of August we had many get togethers with friends and supporters. The Lord managed to refresh our souls and reconnect us with friends and supporters even in the midst of intense health and medical trials.

* On September 5th I had a key meeting with our sending church's liaison, Jorge Bustamante. I had an opportunity to give a report of our ministry and laid out some plans for our furlough time in the States, as well as our next chapter of ministry in Peru…

* On September 8th Rodolfo Monzon, a man that I had the pleasure to baptize a couple years ago and have been discipling since then, taught from the pulpit of our church his first Sunday message. It was truly a pleasure to witness the fruit of our labor as we saw Rodolfo sharing life with others--he taught out of the abundance of the Word of God in his heart.

* On September 9th I flew to Las Vegas with my family for a short season of "tent making…" The Lord provided a temporary contracting job with which we can afford our furlough time in the States.

From all places Las Vegas is the last one we would have expected God to direct us during this furlough, but as we know, the Lord works in mysterious ways… Father, for Your glory, unfold Your perfect plan before our eyes as we obey You one step at a time and thank You, Lord, for your provision..!

* On September 13th we put our house in Miramar, FL in the market for sale. That same day we had an offer slightly higher than the sale price!

* September 15th I had my first message via Skype with our church back in Miraflores, Peru. I gave an exhortation after they watched my previously recorded message on Romans 4. I also had an opportunity to connect and minister at the end of the service.

We will be overseeing and ministering to the church remotely via high speed internet for the remaining of our time in Las Vegas--October and November. Thank You, Lord, for the technology that allows us to stay connected with the congregation during our extended furlough..!

Later that day we attended our first Sunday service at Calvary Chapel Spring Valley. Their welcoming love was very appreciated.

* On September 19th our house went under contract.

Report on CC Miraflores:
We are please to report that the Lord is using our time away to provoke the people of CC Miraflores to love and good works. People that have been attending our church for a number of years are finally stepping up to serve and sustain their church as a gateway of work for the kingdom of God.

Since our physical absence:
- Arturo Calmet is gearing up to serve in the children's ministry.
- Maria Monica Calmet organized a book sale as a fundraiser to provide for the church expenses.
- Peggy Carrion has taken the initiative to watch my teaching videos in advance to write the verses and my sermon notes for the Sunday service and for the Thursday women's Bible study.
- Carlos Mendoza directed communion a couple of Sundays ago. Alejandro Castro and Arturo Calmet will be directing communion the next two times.
- Rodolfo Monzon taught from the pulpit two Sundays ago. Antonio Farfan and Pedro Quijaite are set to teach from the pulpit in the coming weeks as we are scheduled to have live teaching once a month.

All these are people that call CC Miraflores their home church and are bearing fruit to the glory of God.

NEWS LETTER: AUGUST 2013

Developments:
Last month our pledged monthly financial support remained at 55.8% of our budget; after adding one-time donations the Lord provided 100% of our budget—our Lord IS faithful..!

* On July 13th the women of our congregation participated in the Women's Conference with Carmen Camino from CC Albuquerque at Gracia CC.

* On July 26th we hosted a missionary team of 5 people from CC Inverness. They spent a couple of days with us serving and evangelizing the streets of Miraflores. During their stay we had the privilege to be taught on our Sunday service by pastor Edward Mitchell.

* On August 1st we hosted another missionary team, this time of 31 people from CC Ft. Lauderdale. They spent a couple of days with us serving and evangelizing the surfing and skating communities of Miraflores. During their stay we had the privilege to be taught on our Sunday service by pastor Mike Rust.

* On August 3rd we received news that our last tenant had let the air conditioner of our house in Miramar, FL. pluck and slowly drain into the first floor ceiling and bathroom walls causing water damage.

* On August 10th the women of our congregation participated in the Women's Conference with Sharon Ries from CC Golden Springs at Gracia CC.

* On August 11th we had our last Sunday service before going on a three-month furlough back to the US. I laid hands on Rodolfo Monzon to oversee the day-to-day functioning of the church in my physical absence. I say physical only since I plan on being present via Skype to serve whatever urgent needs may arise.

* On August 13th we arrived in Miami and after a few setbacks with immigrations and a temporary lost bag we were warmly received by many of our friends. Thank You, Lord for loving us through them..!

* On August 15th my five-year old, Samuelito, fell off a swing and broke and dislocated his left elbow. After a couple of never ending hours of guessing by the doctors whether he needed surgery or not the consensus was that he didn't. They went on to sedate him in order to relocate his dislocated elbow back in place. The next day he had a cast put on his arm to be worn for six weeks. Today Samuelito is already playing and jumping as if nothing ever happened..! Thank You, Lord.!!

* On August 20th I was diagnosed with a full blown case of Chicken Pox at age 45--can you believe it.?! Apparently I was exposed to the virus during my last days in Peru and broke out about a week latter. Blessedly, the family that received us in their home, Mike and Noemi Ore, have all had it before and have been very supportive.

That same day, as the doctor went on to check the rest of my family he noticed a heart murmur in my middle son, Daniel, and suggested to have it checked by a cardiologist back home... In fact the murmur is back, since Daniel was born with a mild murmur that disappeared weeks later and the doctor's had not noticed it back until now.

…Yes, I feel like a minor version of Job and I'm glad that his story is recorded in the Bible for me to keep my faith strong in this season of trials that we're facing. Father, blessed be Your name for You are good when you give and when You take away..!

Online Outreach Stats (July, 2013):
* Video Ministry: 3650 "Loads" and 178 "Plays" in 9 different countries (Peru, United States, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Germany, Japan and Venezuela--in order of most "Plays").

* Church Facebook: 186 People-Talking-About-This and 3819 of Total-Reach. We closed the month with 150 Likes.

* Church Web Page: 126 Visits with 68 Unique Visitors from 8 different countries (Peru, United States, Argentina, Brazil, Honduras, Mexico, Portugal and Urugay--in order of most Visits).

Furlough 2013 Needs:
* Housing: So far the Lord has provided for us a week in a timeshare in Weston, FL. donated by the Jaramillo's family and have been received by the Ore's family in Miramar, FL. for four weeks until September 15th. After that we would need another place to stay. Don't worry by then I'll be completely Chicken Pox free..!

* Transportation: The Lord provided, through the Aviles' family, a 1999 Chevy Tahoe that we can use for the whole three months! Also, Martha Leng from Plantation is letting us borrow her 2010 GMC Vera until she comes back from Peru the first week of September… At that time we could use another vehicle since the family is much more efficient having two vehicles.

* Work: This item is still pending… Since we don't have budget to sustain our expenses in Peru and the added expenses during furlough in the US, I'm still looking for a temporary job. I have an Electrical Engineering degree and used to work as a Senior RF Engineer for MetroPCS for many years. Here's my resume.

NEWS LETTER: JULY 2013

Developments:
Last month our pledged monthly financial support dropped to 55.8% of our budget; after adding one-time donations the Lord provided 94.7% of our budget—our Lord will be proven faithful..!

* On June 19th we purchased plane tickets to Miami for our next furlough. My family and I will be in the States from August 13th until November 12th.

* On June 21st we said goodbye to the Willis family as they headed back to the US from their three-year assignment here in the US Embassy in Peru. During the three years that they worshiped with us at CC Miraflores they became very much a part of the intimate fabric of our ministry; it is though to say goodbye… Father, bless the Willis as You are the Sovereign Captain of their destiny.!!

As we accompanied the Willis to the airport we were mugged in traffic… A thieve banged Karla's copilot window in order to reach out and grab her phone and purse. Blessfully, the Lord used a protective film previously installed in the window to frustrate the thieve's intentions and we just ended up with a vivid scare and a shattered but standing window. Thank You, Lord..!

* On June 25th we cut the umbilical cord from our firstborn, Sebastian, for the first time as we saw him go on a plane ride on his own to Cajamarca… He spent eleven day doing missionary work with the Alegre's in CC Cajabamba.

* On July 3rd I received the sad news of the death of my dearly beloved nanny, my "other mom," Cruz Parra, or as we always called her, Cupi… I could not begin to describe the nurturing support and impact that this gentle-spirited woman had in my upbringing, so I won't try. All I can say is that she was there in the house of my parents when I was born and she was still there in the house of my parents when I left 27 years latter… Father, I trust You honor our prayers in the name of Your Son for her salvation..!

* On July 7th we had the first completely packed, people-standing service of our church. We're seeing your prayers answered as new people walk in the church every week and our discipleship groups are flourishing.

* On July 9th we regained possession of our house back home. It was abandoned by the tenant after she was served for eviction by the court.

We're preparing to receive two missionary teams from the US this month, one of 5 people from CC Inverness and the other of 30 people from our home church CC Ft. Lauderdale.

Furlough 2013 Needs:
We are blessed and stretched that we're going back home for furlough from August 13th until November 12th. Please, keep this needs in your prayers since we don't have them figured out yet:

* Housing: We know that three months is a long time to have guests in your house, so this need can be divided among several families.

* Transportation: Two cars would be ideal. As with housing, the loan doesn't have to be for the whole three months.

* Work: We don't have budget to sustain our expenses here in Peru and the added expenses during furlough in the US, so I'm looking for a temporary job. I have an Electrical Engineering degree and used to work as a Senior RF Engineer for MetroPCS for many years. Here's my resume.

Prayer Needs:
* For a fresh and empowering view of God, that we may learn to see His goodness in all places and in all things, and that His will be done in our lives.
* For our marriage, our devotional lives, and for our kids to continue to grow in their desire to know the Lord.
* For our house back home to be ready for rent and rented ASAP.
* For God's provision to cover extraordinary expenses of about $5000 incurred on passport renewals and homeschool materials ($2300) and on plane tickets for our coming furlough ($2700).
* For God's wisdom in remotely attending the needs of the church from the US during our furlough.
* For God's leading and provision on expanding the church.
* For a downpour of spiritual realities and an intense hunger for God in the hearts of everyone in the church, including our children and our youth.
* For the healing hand of God on the marriages of our church.
* For the development of male leadership in our church.
* For the development of healthy relational discipleship groups where our congregation truly comes to know and grow in the grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
* For our video ministry, church Facebook and church web page to reach many with the Word of God.
* For the Lord to strengthen and develop godly homeschooling here in Peru.
* For the salvation of the people of the Club Terrazas Swimming Team and beyond.
* For the upcoming missionary teams, that they would have a fruitful time here in Peru to the glory of God.
* For Divine guidance and blessing as we seek to make disciples in the peruvian cities of Huamachuco and Pachacutec, as well as in Caracas, Venezuela. Also for God to raise up local pastors for these locations that are of one mind with the vision of Calvary Chapel Miraflores.
* For our monthly financial support to go back to 100% of our budget.

Thank you for holding us up through your love and faithful work of intercession..!

In His love,
Andres, Karla, Sebastian, Daniel, and Samuel—the Garcia’s.

Since then I've seen the Lord use this venue to establish myself as the goto person for spiritual matters of many of my old-time friends that live in Venezuela and all around the world.
