NEWS LETTER: JANUARY 2012

Developments:

Last month our pledged monthly financial support went up to 57.9% of our budget; after adding one-time donations the Lord provided 100% of our budget—our Lord IS faithful..!

* On December 8^th we got together at our house with our friends from the disbanded Calvary Chapel Surco. I taught their Sunday services for almost two months before they disbanded back on February 2011. They are now congregating at their nearby Calvary Chapel Koinonia.

* On December 13^th we got notification that CC Ft. Lauderdale, our home church, will be sending us Juan and Sandra Alegre as missionaries for a period of one year as their initial commitment. We are good friends with the Alegre’s and are blessed to have them come help us with the pastoral care and outreach areas of ministry here in CC Miraflores—thank You, Lord!

* On December 16^th we held our church wide Christmas dinner in a local Chinese restaurant. We had an opportunity enjoy each other and to exchange presents with one another.

* On December 17^th we had a swimming competition on a local club with the Terrazas' swimming team. We continued being a witness of Jesus Christ to those in this group and using every open door to share with them.

* On December 18^th we had the pleasure to watch the children of our congregation perform a Christmas play after the service at the church. It was truly an event that brought us together, as well as, served as an evangelistic platform to reach friends and family.

* On December 22^nd we had a gift exchange in our English speaking home group.

* On December 23^rd we had a movie night at the church where we watched a Christmas movie.

* On December 24^th we celebrated Christmas Eve at the Calmet’s.

* On December 26^th a large group of the church showed up at my house to celebrate my 44^th birthday. Since Arturo Calmet’s birthday was on the 29^th we also blew his candles.

* On January 4^th the Lord sent us Esteban Luna and his family from Calvary Chapel Melbourne. Esteban has a heart for street evangelism and has a couple of years of experience teaching and leading evangelistic groups in the streets of Melbourne, FL. They will be staying in Peru for about six months and agreed to help us develop this area of ministry in CC Miraflores while they’re here—praise You, Lord!

We thank and praise the Lord for being an intimate God who answers prayers. His love and care for His people are undeniable and nothing is too hard for Him. We are blessed with the help He’s sending our way as an answer to your prayers. Thank you, prayer warriors. Truly the Lord is GOOD..!

Prayer Needs:

* For a fresh and empowering view of God, that we may learn to see His goodness in all places and in all things, and that His will be done in our lives.

* For our marriage, our devotional lives, and for our kids to continue to grow in their desire to know the Lord.

* For a downpour of spiritual realities and an intense hunger for God in the hearts of everyone in the church, including our children and our youth.

* For the healing hand of God on the marriages of our church.

* For the development of male leadership in our church.

* For the Lord to bring safely the Alegre’s on early March and that their ministry here in Miraflores would be an extremely fruitful one to the glory of God.

* For the development of healthy home groups within our congregation where people come to know and grow in the grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

* For the Lord to strengthen and develop godly homeschooling here in Peru.

* For the salvation of the people of the Club Terrazas Swimming Team and beyond.

* For ministry opportunities with the orphanage El Amparo, the shelter for girls The House of Glory, and our local brothers from HeartCry Missionary Society.

* For the hungry kids of Lurin and Rimac and for the men in the rehab centers in Rimac and Victory Fellowship.

NEWS LETTER: DECEMBER 2011

Developments:

Last month our pledged monthly financial support remained at 56.8% of our budget; after adding one-time donations the Lord provided 100% of our budget. He also glorified Himself by providing for our furlough expenses and homeschool materials through a God-given opportunity to work in engineering for five weeks in the US—our Lord IS faithful..!

* On November 13th I was invited to give an update about our ministry at Calvary Chapel Inverness. They have been our supporters from day one and continue to be a main source of encouragement for us. Thank you Pastor Kevin and the rest at CC Inverness..!

* On November 18th our family joined our friends, the Sloop’s and the Thornsberry’s, on a Thanksgiving outreach to the inner-city of Nashville, TN. We handed turkeys and goody bags in Jesus’ name to “the least of these…”

* On November 20th I was invited to share about our ministry and to teach the Sunday service at Calvary Chapel Savannah. You can view the service here. Thank you Pastor Dan for relinquishing the pulpit to me and to all that gave me their attention and love..!

* On November 26th and 27th we visited the main campus of our home church, Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale. There we had an opportunity to connect with our supporters and to raise new prayer warriors.

* On November 27th Karla and I renewed our wedding vows at Calvary Chapel Plantation. There, before the Lord, Pastor Steve and a handful of our best friends, we recommitted ourselves to each other to strengthen our marriage for the glory of God.

* On December 2nd we said goodbye to North American soil and to our friends until next furlough... We were blessed with the company of our best friends right up to the security checkpoint at the airport. We thank God for the love He channels our way through the good friends He’s given us back home—bless them, Lord..!

* On December 3rd we arrived in Lima to be welcomed by our friends from church, the Calmet and the Monzon, and with it we knew in our hearts that Chapter II of our missionary adventure had started...

We are thankful to the Lord for the opportunity to serve Him in the mission field here in Peru. That He would use us for the advancement of his kingdom here in Lima is mindboggling, considering our insufficiencies. We thank Him for the friends He has given us back home and for the new friends He’s giving us here in the mission field. Truly the Lord is GOOD..!

Developments:

Last month our pledged monthly financial support went up to 56.8% of our budget; after adding one-time donations the Lord provided 100% of our budget. He also glorified Himself by providing us with two rental cars and two borrowed cars to meet our transportation needs while on furlough in the US—our Lord IS faithful..!

* On October 10^th our kids started at SAINTS—a home school physical education program in Weston, FL. Thank you for sponsoring our children while on furlough!

* On October 13^th we shared with the Thursday Night Chicas’ Bible study group from Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale, Plantation Campus.

* On October 16^th we presented our ministry to Christ Community Church in Pembroke Pines.

* On October 17^th we shared with the kids at AWANA in Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale, Plantation Campus. Thank you for sponsoring our children during our time in the US!

* On October 18^th we shared with the prayer group from Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale at the Goldie’s.

* On October 23^rd we visited the Plantation Campus of Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale.

* On October 28^th we had a Sponsor’s Dinner at The Garage in the Plantation Campus of Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale.

* On October 30^th I was invited to share about our ministry and to teach the Sunday service at Calvary Chapel Venice.

* On November 1^st we visited the Family Shepherd's Bible study group of Christ Community Church in Pembroke Pines.

* On November 6^th I was invited to share about our ministry and to teach the Sunday service at Capilla Calvario Broward.

We also visited and had fellowship with many other brothers and sisters in the Lord during the last month in the US. We are extremely thankful to God for all the love He channels our way through His people in all the fellowships mentioned above and to all of His children for making themselves available for Him to do so… Thank you.!!

NEWS LETTER: OCTOBER 2011

Developments:

* Last month our pledged monthly financial support dropped to 55.6% of our budget; after adding a generous one-time donation for this month we received 100% of our budget—our Lord IS faithful..!

* On September 12^th a group of women from our church went to visit a rehab center for women in Cieneguilla where they minister the love of Christ to the women at the center in many ways, but mostly with one-on-one biblical counseling.

* On September 16^th we had a Street Evangelism Day with a couple of evangelists from Open Air Campaigners at Parque Kennedy—the main park in Miraflores.

* On September 17^th a group from our church visited the orphanage El Amparo in Chaclacayo. They helped with the cleaning of the facility, provided and cooked lunch for them, and ministered to the kids.

* On September 25^th we had our last service before furlough. There I anointed Rodolfo Monzón as the temporary head of the church during my absence. He won’t be teaching on Sundays, but he will be leading the prayer meeting on Tuesday nights and overseeing the other activities of the church until my return. Please pray for him.

* On September 26^th we boarded a plane in Lima headed to Miami to spend 9 week on furlough in South Florida, but not without a surprise farewell from the Monzón’s as they showed up at the airport to show their love and appreciation to us. We were deeply touched by their display of affection on behalf of our church in Miraflores. Later on we arrived in Florida to be welcome at our friends house in Plantation, Matt and Joyce Monteith, with a car at our disposal courtesy of Fabio and Michelle Dias—thank you guys so much!

* On September 28^th I visited my friends at my old job in MetroPCS and it turned out that they had a need for a contractor for the exact time that I was available to fill. They ended up offering me a temporary 5-week assignment with which we’ll be able to complement financially for our time on furlough. Thank you Lord.!!

* On October 10^th I started my 5-week assignment at MetroPCS.

Remember that you are all invited to come to our Sponsor Potluck Dinner in The Garage at Calvary Chapel Plantation on October 28^th from 7pm to 9pm.

Let us know if you are interested to have us visit your church, Bible study group, etc. during our time back in the US (until December 2^nd) so we can accommodate you. NEWS LETTER: SEPTEMBER 2011

Developments:

* Last month we stopped receiving a one-year grant equivalent to 15.6% of our budget after it expired without renewal. Our financial support, pledged plus one-time offerings, made it to 89.9% of our budget—our Lord will be proven faithful..!

* On August 14^th Karla and I celebrated 12 years of marriage. That day I rested from pulpit duties and sat with my wife and the rest of our congregation under the teaching of Alfonso Nuñez, a brother and friend from HeartCry missionary society.

* On August 16^th our pastor from our home church, Steve Turner, and his wife Roz arrived in Lima with the sole purpose to minister and care for us--what a blessing! They stayed with us until August 22^nd. During their visit we had the opportunity to share many meals together, assist the 3^rdFINA World Junior Championship here in Lima, participate in street evangelism, have a Koinonia Day in Chaclacayo, sit under Pastor Steve's teaching in our church, and to celebrate Roz's birthday. Thank you Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale for caring for your missionaries--praise God!

* On August 23^rdI had the privilege of getting together with other Calvary senior pastors in the area to share and pray together. This time the group was conformed by myself and the senior pastors from CC Koinonia, CC Huacho, CC Ica, CC Pisco, and CC Barranco.

* On September 1^st the Willis', an American family that congregates with us, started the first Home Group in our church. It is a Home Group for English-speaking people.

* On September 2^nd we had a movie night at the church where we played Left Behind I. In the next months we'll be finishing the complete Left Behind trilogy.

* On August 27^th we visited and ministered at Victory Fellowship, a rehab center for men at El Callao. Please pray for the spiritual freedom of our friend Roberto.

* On September 3^rda group of women from our congregation visited and ministered at House of Glory, a Christian center that offers assistance to young women with unwanted pregnancies to find and cling to the Sustainer--our Lord Jesus!

* On September 5^th we had lunch at our house with the Marco Laura, senior pastor of CC Pisco, his wife, Monique, and his newborn, Israel.

Everything is almost ready for us to go back home on furlough from September 26^thto December 2^nd. The Lord has provided teachers to fill the pulpit in our church while we're in the States--praise God!

The whole family is very excited to visit back home to reconnect with our supporters and to recharge both physically and spiritually for the next couple of years of ministry here in Peru. Our schedule is filling up quickly, but if you are interested to have us visit your church, Bible study group, etc. during our time back in the US let us know so we can accommodate you. NEWS LETTER: AUGUST 2011

Developments:

* Last month our financial support, pledged plus one-time offerings, dropped to 75.6% of our budget—our Lord will be proven faithful..!

* On July 18^th our kids started a new homeshool year. Sebastian started 5^th grade and Daniel started 3^rd grade with Abeka DVD's; Samuel also started Pre-K with Karla.

* On July 21^st Karla started a Bible study of the book of James with the newly formed Little Children's Ministry team. We are encouraging not-so-little children to attend the services as soon as possible so we can worship God, learn from, and pray to Him together as integrated families.

* On July 22^nd Karla and I connected with a group of missionaries from Paul Washer's missionary ministry, HeartCry, here in Lima to do street evangelism in the main park of Miraflores. In the future we will be joining forces with them to reach in this fashion the people of Miraflores and beyond with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

* On August 4^th Karla got together with several of the Calvary Chapel pastor's wives of the area to say goodbye to Pillar Bonner, as she's moving with her husband, John Bonner, to Cajamarca with the Bible College.

* On August 5^th we had a Lonche, a Peruvian light dinner, at the church where our friend and prayer warrior, Maria Luisa Baiochi, shared her testimony and we all had a time of worship and fellowship.

* This month Karla and I had a very active biblical counseling ministry along with several opportunities to further develop relationships with three of the main families of our church. We had dinner with the Willis', went to the Peruvian Independence Day March with the Calmet's, and visited the town of Barranco with the Monzon's. The Lord continues to knit our congregation together in His love as we all grow together closer to Him. A clear expression of this was seen as the congregation rose up to pray for and to provide meals and house help to a lady in our congregation, as she was convalescent from an unexpected operation.

* We are gearing up to go back home on furlough from September 26^thto December 2^nd. The whole family is very excited to visit back home to reconnect with our supporters and to recharge both physically and spiritually for the next couple of years of ministry here in Peru. NEWS LETTER: JULY 2011

Developments:

* Last month our financial support, pledged plus one-time offerings, dropped to 89.0% of our budget—our Lord will be proven faithful..!

* On June 17^th we had a movie night at the church; we watched Amazing Grace.

* On June 19^th we had a Father's Day Celebration at the church with the participation of some of the children in our congregation.

* On June 21^st our kids and their friends from our congregation that follow the US school year had an End-of-School-Year Celebration at their house.

* On June 24^th Karla and I took a quick getaway trip to Trujillo, a costal city about a 7-hour bus trip north of Lima. We had an opportunity to visit Chicama, a surfing beach that has the largest waves in the world, as well as, the ruins of the temple of the Lady of Cao, the only known female ruler in Peruvian ancient history.

* On July 1^st most of the Tuesday Night Prayer Meeting Ministry members took Karla and me on a Pastor's Day Celebration on a local restaurant. It reminded me of the saying "those who pray together stay together".

* This month we received an offering from a family of generous friends/supporters to pay for our plane tickets to go back home on furlough! After much prayer we sense God leading us to go back home on furlough from October to November. We have places to stay, but we will need transportation--please keep this prayer.

NEWS LETTER: JUNE 2011

Developments:

* Last month our financial support, pledged plus one-time offerings, dropped to 92.8% of our budget—our Lord will be proven faithful..!

* On May 13^th we visited the Shelly's of CC Ica, a fairly large city about a 3 1/2 hour drive south of Lima. There we had an opportunity to connect with Robin and Tracy and to witness how the Lord is reaching the working professionals through them there in Ica; very similar to what He is doing through us here in Miraflores-Lima.

* On May 21^st a group of our church participated in an anti-abortion march called March for Life. There we had an opportunity to reach the Catholic youth of Lima.

* On May 27^th we assisted the inauguration of the orphanage El Amparo. This orphanage is a ministry of Calvary Chapel Lima located in Chaclacayo, a small town about a 45-minute drive East of Lima. We are praying for ministry opportunities, as the Lord leads, with this ministry.

* On May 28^th we were invited to Trini's 80^thbirthday surprise party. Trini is a lovely believer that congregates with us. The party was organized by Trini's unbelieving family, so we had an opportunity to bear witness to the reality of our Lord to them.

* On June 6^th Karla and I had an opportunity to visit The House of Glory, a Christian shelter for young mothers whose pregnancy was due to abuse. We are praying for ministry opportunities, as the Lord leads, with this ministry.

* On June 9^th we had Gabie Goni back in our church leading a Women's Conference. The female part of the congregation was ministered and challenged to grow in their relationship with our Lord and to press deeper into His fields of freedom and love. * On June 11^th we enjoyed of a Koinonia Day under the sunny skies of Chaclacayo with a large group of our congregation. More importantly, there we had the unspeakable joy of baptizing into obedience to Christ four souls of our congregation, including my 7-year old Daniel..! Also, we baptized Michelle (10), Deborah (18), and Sara (24)--praise the Lord for His mercy endures forever!

* This month we had very fruitful biblical counseling sessions where we saw the light of God’s glory shine freedom in the hearts of those being counseled. Thank You, Father..!

NEWS LETTER: MAY 2011

Developments:

* Last month our financial support, pledged plus one-time offerings, made it to 100% of our budget for the fourth time in-a-row—our Lord IS faithful..!

* On April 29^th we watched The End of the Spear as a congregation in the church. God continues to use this venue to knit us together in His love as one body for the glory of His name.

* On April 30^th I participated in a national swimming competition for masters--another way to say older people--representing the swimming club Terrazas de Miraflores. This is a secular group where the Lord placed my family and I as ambassadors of His kingdom after the doctor prescribed swimming as therapy for my back problem. Please, pray that the Lord would give us boldness to speak His Word and that He would stretch His hand to touch the hearts of those in this group and beyond in the name of His Son Jesus.

* On April 30^th a good part of our congregation went to a Chinese restaurant to celebrate Mother's Day. One more time God is glorified as His love flows freely among us before the world to see.

* On May 3^rd we started a weekly, corporate, prayer meeting in the church. The Lord is leading us to make this prayer meeting our most important meeting as a church where we get on our knees and cry out to Him according to His Word. We only have met twice so far and we are already seeing His glory around us more abundantly!

* On May 4^th we celebrated seven years since little Daniel was born in our car while we were on our way the hospital. Father, thank You for our children and for extending Your holy hand into our filthy mess to save us... Thank You, Lord!

* On May 5^th myself and three other men from our congregation attended the annual Calvary Chapel Pastors and Leaders' Conference in Cajamarca. There we had an opportunity to be refreshed and to connect with other pastors from al over Peru, Colombia, and Chile. We also had an opportunity to visit and pray for the new location of the Calvary Chapel Bible College in Peru in that city. Please, pray for this new branch of the Bible College as they open their doors for international students in August.

* May 8^th we had Efrain Medina, Senior Pastor of CC Arequipa, sharing the Word with us on Mother's Day. Please, pray for financial provision for Pastor Efrain.

Developments:

* Last month our pledged monthly financial remained at 63.9% of our budget; after adding one-time donations for this month we received, for the third time in-a-row, 100% of our budget—our Lord IS faithful..!

* On March 3^rd we made it to our first complete year in the mission field.

* On March 10^th some our best friends in Florida organized a garage sale to raise funds for our ministry. Thanks to all involved!

* On March 18th we celebrated Karla's birthday.

* On March 19th we watched Facing the Giants as a congregation in the church. We had a wonderful time of fellowship as we were ministered by the Spirit of God through this movie to live, and to do all things, for the glory of God--the way of freedom from selfish ambitions.

* On March 20th I was invited to cover for Pastor John Bonner at CC Lima's Sunday services. We saw the Spirit of God move with power bringing conviction that leads to freedom on a good number of people that day in both services. Your prayers at work..!

* On April 1st I covered for Pastor Craig Tippie at CC Huacho, about three hours north of Lima. We had a chance to minister God's Word to a young crowd. It's always beautiful to see our Lord getting a hold on men early on in life--what a blessing!

* On April 3rd we were so blessed by God. Our old-time friends from Florida, the Jaramillo’s, came to visit us here in Lima, Peru. We had a wonderful time with them that, even though the visit was short, has uplifted our spirits with a much-needed fellowship of love. We're looking forward to furlough...

* On April 7th we celebrated Sebastian's ninth birthday... We're still trying to get over the fact that we have a nine-year old firstborn. Lord, thank you for our children and for what you're doing in them!

* On April 8th we had a Peruvian light dinner called Lonche at the church. As we enjoyed the meal we listened to Enrique Arce's strong testimony--a story of a God that rescues and saves from the uttermost to the uttermost! We love You, Jesus!!

* On April 9th we had a special Sunday service on Saturday night due to public gatherings being prohibited on Election Day. We pray God's good and perfect will for the country of Peru.

Developments:

* Last month our pledged monthly financial remained at 63.9% of our budget; after adding one-time donations for this month we received 100% of our budget—our Lord IS faithful..!

* On February 11^th Gabie Goni held a conference for the women of our church.

* On February 12^th our church and the youth of the congregation of CC Surco joined forces on an outreach to the poor kids in Rimac. We provided hair cutters and CC Surco provided an evangelistic show of puppets and mimes. About 30 kids got a haircut and heard the Gospel message that day.

* On February 24^th Karla assisted this year’s Pastor’s Wives Conference in Kawai, a beach retreat center about one hour south of Lima. She had the honor to lead a morning devotional with the group.

* On February 27^th we held the last service of CC Surco and provided cake and refreshments to celebrate the conclusion of their fruitful ministry in La Cruceta. They were invited to join us in Miraflores and are praying for God to direct them to where He wants them to congregate going forward.

* On February 28^th “Iglesia Cristiana Calvary Chapel Miraflores” was officially born as a legal entity here in Peru.

* On March 3^rd I shared at CC Huacho, about three hours north of Lima. Our family had a great time there with the Tippie’s and getting to know the congregation.

* On March 13^th the church organized a surprise party in a local restaurant for Karla’s 31^st birthday where 40 people showed up. The Lord has truly blessed us with a very loving congregation to teach and to pastor here in Peru.

* Last month we had a full schedule of social/counseling get-togethers where the Spirit of God moved to bring freedom and the exchange of spiritual life.

NEWS LETTER: FABRUARY 2011

Developments:
* Last month our pledged monthly financial support dropped to 63.9% of our budget; after adding one-time donations for this month we received, for the first time, 100% of our budget—our Lord IS faithful..!
* On January 7th Karla and I broke our 10-day liquid fast.
* On January 10th our family had the opportunity to spend a week of relaxing and spiritual recharge with Pastor Lucho and Nori Garcia in the beaches of Asia, about an hour south of Lima.
* On January 16th Karla and I accompanied Pastor Lucho and Nori to what was meant to be the final service at Calvary Chapel Surco. CC Surco is a congregation of mostly young adults, about a 20-minute drive from Miraflores, whose Pastor went to be with the Lord about three years ago and they haven't since been able to find a Pastor to lead them. Upon meeting them I felt a tug from the Lord to be involved with them. After much prayer we felt the Lord leading us to support them with a month of rent and spiritual leadership during which we have been seeking God's will in regard to our roll in their spiritual progress in the future. I have been teaching and worshiping with them on Sunday afternoon and praying together on Thursday night. We are still waiting on the Lord to make His will known to us...
* On January 25th we broke cake and sang Happy Birthday on a small corporate celebration for all the January birthdays in our congregation.
* On January 26th we had our monthly Movie Night at the church. The Spirit of God is using these events to bless our congregation with fellowship and spiritual oneness in a mighty way.
* On January 28th our family traveled about three hours south of Lima to Pisco to join our fellow missionaries, Marco and Monique Laura, as they celebrated the third year anniversary of Calvary Chapel Pisco. We had time to connect with them and their congregation, to lead worship, and to perform a couple of baptisms in the beach of Paracas, a well know tourist area about 15 minutes further south of Pisco.
* On January 31st we had our first baptisms in our congregation..!
* On February 5th we celebrated birthday number three for our youngest son, Samuel.
* Last month was a challenging month in terms of physical health in the family. Daniel (6) went down with a case of mild pneumonia that lasted for 20 days and Samuel (3) had a bronchitis infection that agitated his asthma. Thankfully everybody is back in good health today.
* The Lord continues to bless our children with godly friends as He brought another Peruvian-American couple with a nine years old daughter to our congregation. They are a returning-home family that lived in the US for ten years and used to congregate in Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale, our home church.

Developments:

* Last month our pledged monthly financial support remained at 67.3% of our budget; after adding one-time donations for this month we received 82.7% of our budget—our Lord IS faithful..!

* On December 18^th we had our first Christmas Dinner with the church body at a local Chinese restaurant where we celebrated the birth of our Savior and exchanging gifts with each other.

* On December 20^th we visited the Iglesia El Camino in Rimac to participate in a Christmas event where we had the opportunity to bless the kids of that poor area with the love of Christ through small gifts and goody bags.

* On December 21^st we had a small dinner at our house with a few key members of our congregation where we had an opportunity to say thanks for their support and build relationships.

* On December 22^nd we had our fist Christmas Service.

* On December 23^rd we visited a rehab center in Rimac to bless the inmates and their visiting kids with the love of Christ through small gifts and goody bags.

* December 26^th the church body surprised me with a lunch celebration for my 43^rd birthday. I was overwhelmed with the loving embrace of this group of people that now call me their pastor… The work of God, for sure..!

* On December 29^th Karla and I started a 10-day liquid fast and encouraged the congregation to join us in a corporate fast of any kind. The Lord blessed us during this time with Biblical insight and direction for our personal life and the ministry this coming year, while developing a sense of oneness and spiritual purpose in our congregation.

* This month the Lord brought an American couple with two kids, eight and five years old, to our congregation. They will be stationed here in Peru for a couple of years and have decided to congregate with us. It’s truly an answer to prayer since we were asking the Lord for a while for godly friends for our kids.

Developments:

* Last month we received one new pledge of monthly financial support that puts us at 67.3% of our budget; after adding one-time donations for this month we received 88.5% of our budget which is 136.2% of our “survival mode” budget—our Lord IS faithful..!

* On November 19^th our church held a women’s conference with Gabie Goni from Running for the Gold Ministries in South Florida.

* On November 26^th we had a Peruvian Lonche (light dinner) at the church. There we had a time of fellowship, live worship, and testimony. This time a fellow missionary from Soncoast Community Church in West Palm Beach, Jack Meier shared his testimony with the congregation. We were all encouraged to reach our mission field for Christ!

* On November 27^th the youth of our church joined forces with the youth of Calvary Chapel Huacho to do an outreach in a Skater’s Competition held in a local skater’s park in Miraflores.

* On December 8^th Karla and six other women from our congregation assisted a Women’s Conference in Calvary Chapel Koinonia.

* On December 9^th Karla got together with some of the Calvary Chapel Pastor’s Wives around the area for a time of fellowship and encouragement.

* On December 10^th Gabie Goni from Running for the Gold Ministries in South Florida held a leadership training over the web with the participation of women from several Calvary Chapels in the area. Karla hosted a group of five women that participated in the class from our house.

* On December 14^th our church had the opportunity to bless 50 kids from Lurin with an afternoon at Bembos, a Mc Donald’s like, where the kids received a present and had a time to eat, play and be kids. Schick & Energizer of Peru sponsored this event through a member of our church.

* On December 18^th we’ll be having our first Christmas Dinner with the church body at a local Chinese restaurant where we’ll be celebrating the birth of our Savior and exchanging gifts with each other.

* On December 20^th we’ll be visiting the Iglesia El Camino in Rimac to participate in a Christmas event where we’ll be blessing the kids of that poor area with the love of Christ through small gifts and goody bags.

* On December 23^rd we’ll be visiting a rehab center in Rimac to bless the inmates and their visiting kids with the love of Christ through small gifts and goody bags.

* This month we continued to have substantial extra medical expenses due to my back’s herniated disk and some dental problems. In total we spent an extra of about $320 that with the $360 spent last month total over $680 in the last two months.

Developments:

* Last month our pledged monthly financial support remained at 65.0% of our budget; after adding one-time donations for this month we received 87.3% of our budget which is 134.3% of our “survival mode” budget—our Lord IS faithful..!

* On October 19^th we started offering the CC Ft. Lauderdale’s original Deep Faith classes on Tuesday nights. After the recorded teachings from Pastor Fidel Gomez I break with the men and Karla with the women. We are averaging a crowd of about 25 people—20 women and 5 men.

* On October 22^nd we had a Peruvian Lonche (light dinner) at the church. There we had a time of fellowship, live worship, and testimony. This time a local musical artist, Mario Garcia—the Anti-Hero of Rock and Roll, shared his testimony with the congregation. We were all blessed!

* On October 31^st we participated in an outreach for kids, called Life Festival, organized by Calvary Chapel Vida in Lurin, a poor town south of Lima. This event provided a sanctified alternative for the kids in that area to hear and see the Gospel with music and mimes while the world celebrates Halloween. That day Calvary Chapel Miraflores donated enough milk, oat, and sugar to feed a daily oatmeal to the children in the congregation for a month—about 25 of them. We are hoping to be able to provide this daily oatmeal on an ongoing basis.

* On November 8^th Karla and I were delighted to have dinner with Pastor Lucho and his wife, Nori, from Garcia Calvary Chapel here in Lima. We had a wonderful time of fellowship and an opportunity to grasp some very helpful ministry tips.

* On November 11^th we closed on the sell of our house in The Florida Keys. Yes, the Lord can be trusted... He is FAITHFUL..!

* On November 12^th we had a Movie Night at the church where we played the 2003’s movie Luther. The entire audience was captivated and encouraged by this story as we realize how today we get to freely enjoy the light of God’s Word that remained hidden for so long—Sola Scriptura..!

* On November 19^th we’ll be having a women’s conference at our church with Gabie Goni from Running for the Gold Ministries in South Florida.

* Karla is organizing a get-together for all the Pastor’s Wives of the Calvary Chapels in Peru for early December.

* This month we had substantial extra medical expenses due to my back’s herniated disk getting upset and regular vaccinations for the kids. In total we spent an extra of about $360 with another $220 pending for MRI expenses.

Developments:

* Last month our pledged monthly financial support remained at 65.0% of our budget; after adding one-time donations for this month we received 78.9% of our budget which is 120.4% of our “survival mode” budget—our Lord IS faithful..!

* On September 29^th we started the process to formalize the legal entity of our church. The new official name of our church will be: Iglesia Cristiana Calvary Chapel Miraflores. Very appropriate since we are already known as Calvary Chapel Miraflores. We also registered the internet domain for our web page: www.ccmiraflores.org. There’s not much there yet, but we’ll be working on it soon.

* On October 4^th we were pleased to provide the kids that attend Calvary Chapel Vida in Lurin, a poor town south of Lima, with enough milk, oat, and sugar to feed a daily oat meal to the children in the congregation for a month—about 30 of them. This is the first outreach of our benevolence ministry. We are hoping to be able to provide this daily oat meal on an ongoing basis.

* On October 6^th we launched our Wednesday night Children’s Ministry.

* On October 8^th the Lord provided a buyer for our house in The Florida Keys. We are schedule to close on November 10^th..!

* On October 9^th I was invited to share my testimony with a group of people from another church in the area called Gracia y Verdad. A couple of people from our church attended the event; it was a blessing.

* On October 10^th our church started having an intercessory team praying half-hour before Sunday service. Later that day the church attended a lunch at Calvary Chapel Vida in Lurin where we had the opportunity to share with the poor kids in Lurin. We are praying about how the Lord would lead our congregation to continue to bless this group of poor kids with both physical and spiritual food.

* On October 12^th we completed our men’s group weekly study on the book Calvary Road on Tuesday nights.

* On October 19^th we will be offering the CC Ft. Lauderdale’s original Deep Faith classes—23 in total—on Tuesday nights for the church at large. I will be braking with the men and Karla with the women after the recorded teachings from Pastor Fidel Gomez.

Prayer Needs:

* For a fresh and empowering view of God, and that His will be done in our lives.

* For our marriage, our devotional lives, and for our kids to continue to grow in their desire to know Christ.

* For social activities and godly friends for our kids.

* For us to stay healthy.

* For an intense hunger for God in the hearts of everyone in the church.

* For the healing hand of God on the marriages of our church.

* For wisdom as we formalize the legal entity and the board of our church.

* For wisdom to do God’s will with the benevolence ministry of our church.

* That the Lord would bring the closing of the selling of our house in The Florida Keys on November 10^th as scheduled.

NEWS LETTER: SEPTEMBER 2010

Developments:

* Last month we received a one-year grant of monthly financial support from an anonymous donor through the Christian Community Foundation of South Florida that puts us at 65.0% of our budget; after adding one-time donations for this month we received 98.1% of our budget which is 150.9% of our “survival mode” budget—our Lord IS faithful..!

* On August 17^th Nicole Bromley taught a leadership class for the women of our church.

* On August 18^th the mission’s team from Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale arrived in Lima. During their stay we did construction work in the church, engaged on street evangelism, and did home visitations around Miraflores. We visited a men’s rehab center in Rimac, a very poor area of Lima, where a couple of missionary friends hold a Celebrate Recovery program. We led worship and ministered to the guys in the center and some of their family members. We visited feeding programs for children in Lurigancho and in Rimac, areas of extreme poverty of Lima. There we helped with food preparations and shared the love of God in Christ Jesus with the children at the centers and with families in their homes. That day the missionary team reached Celestina (100+), a quechuan woman in the hills of Rimac, and she gave her life to Christ—see the video to your left..! Pastor Steve’s wife, Roz, held an intimate conference with the women of our church. Overall, the missionary trip was an astounding success. They were starting fires for Jesus everywhere they went as the Spirit of God led them. We lost count of how many decision for Christ we got! Thanks to all who were involved to make this trip happen..! They left on August 30^th.

* On August 22^nd we received notice that out tenants were leaving at the end of the month in our investment house in The Florida Keys. The house is vacant since September 1^st and after much prayer we sense that, even though it seems like the worst time to sell, the Lord wants to sell the house. We put it in the market on September 8^th.

* On September 5^th we debuted our new Sunday School place. After much prayer and waiting on the Lord, we were able to sign a one-year lease on a small office just a couple of feet from our church. Now our Children’s Ministry has its own place where we can serve the children away from the cold drafts of the Peruvian winter in Miraflores..!

* On September 6^th we had our 1^st marriage biblical counseling session.

* On September 5^th I was invited to share at the Iglesia El Camino in Rimac.

* On September 10^th we had our 1^st Movie Night at the church. About 20 people attended and we had a great time of fellowship as we eat and saw the movie based on the book of Esther, One Night with the King.

* We are praying about offering the CC Ft. Lauderdale’s original Deep Faith classes on Tuesday nights for the church at large.

Prayer Needs:

* For a fresh and empowering view of God, that we may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, and that we may have grace to do it.

* For our marriage, our devotional lives, and for our kids to continue to grow in their desire to know Christ.

* For social activities and godly friends for our kids.

* For us to stay healthy.

* For God to cause the increase of all the seeds planted by the CC Ft. Lauderdale missions team that visited us recently.

* For an intense hunger for God in the hearts of everyone in our Men’s Discipleship Group and the church in general. That the men of the church be empowered by the Holy Spirit to serve where the Lord would call them and for me to have discernment to nurture their calling.

* For the healing hand of God on the marriages of our church.

* For wisdom as we formalize the legal entity and the board of our church.

* For wisdom to do God’s will as we start the benevolence ministry of our church.

* For the hungry kids of Lurin.

NEWS LETTER: AUGUST 2010

Developments:

* Last month we received one new pledge of monthly financial support that puts us at 49.4% of our budget; after adding one-time donations for this month we received 56.0% of our budget which is 86.2% of our “survival mode” budget—our Lord will be proven faithful..!

* On July 17^th I was invited to a breakfast at the Calvary Chapel Bible College in Lima with Sergio Pirelli from Calvary Chapel Amistad in Montclair, California.

* On July 21^st Pastor Dan Tuttle, the Pastor of CC Savannah, taught in our mid-week service in Miraflores. Also, that day a group of leaders form the women’s ministry of CC Savannah held a mini women’s conference in Miraflores. Our congregation, as well as a couple of other women from the area, were deeply blessed and refreshed by the spiritual food served to us by Pastor Dan and his team—thank you CC Savannah!

* On July 24^th my self and most of the men in our congregation attended Gracia Calvary Chapel’s 2010 Men’s Conference. Pastor Dan and his leadership team led the conference. Again, we all were extremely blessed as they took us on a gleaning session studying the lives of a couple of mighty man of faith in the Scriptures.

* On July 28^th Missionary Nicole Bromley arrived to Miraflores to help us prepare for the arrival on August 18^th of a missionary team from our home church Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale.

* On August 2^nd our kids stared a new year of homeschooling. Sebastian started 4^th grade and Daniel started 2^nd grade. After much prayer, starting August 17^th, we’re putting little Samuel on a morning day care/school so he can get some social and educational activities until he starts homeschooling next year.

* On August 12^th Karla assisted Debbi Bryson’s workshop for Pastors’ Wife held by CC Lima.

* On August 14^th Karla and I celebrated eleven years of marriage! Thank You, Lord, for shedding Your grace upon our family… We’re humbled at the sight of Your strong hand, Your faithfulness, Your goodness, and Your loving-kindness!!

* On August 17^th Nicole Bromley will be teaching a leadership class for the women of our church.

* On August 18^th the mission’s team from Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale will arrive in Lima at night.

* On August 19^th and 20^th the mission’s team we’ll spilt in three groups. We will be working on the construction of a deposit and the remodeling of our bathroom in the church, engaging on street evangelism, and doing home visitations.

* On August 21^st we’ll be organizing and getting the church ready for service next day, as well as, street evangelism and home visitations.

* On August 22^nd we’ll be having church and the team we’ll be taking a Sabbath day.

* On August 23^rd and 24^th we’ll be painting and finishing the work in the church, as well as, street evangelism, and home visitations.

* On August 25^th we’ll be visiting a rehab center in Rimac, a very poor area of Lima, where a couple of missionary friends hold a Celebrate Recovery program. We’ll be leading worship and ministering to the guys in the center and potentially their family members. Latter on that day we’ll be having our mid-week church service in Miraflores—Pastor Steve will be teaching.

* On August 26^th we’ll be visiting the Ingrid Project, a feeding program for children in Lurigancho, an extremely poor area of Lima. We’ll be helping out with the food preparation and sharing the love of God in Christ Jesus with the children at the center and with families in the area.

* On August 27^th we’ll be visiting another feeding center. This time it will be at Iglesia El Refugio, in Rimac, where ORC has a feeding program for children.

* On August 28^th Pastor Steve’s wife, Roz, will be sharing with the women of our church.

* On August 29^th Pastor Steve will be teaching in our Sunday service in Miraflores. Later, the team will have a last minute shopping session before they leave very early next day.

Prayer Needs:

* For a fresh and empowering view of God and that we may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.

* For our marriage—the enemy knows that if he can get in the middle of our marriage he can mess up everything else.

* For our devotional lives and for our kids to continue to grow in their desire to know God.

* For social activities and godly friends for our kids.

* For provision for little Samuel’s school expenses—school in Peru is rather costly.

* For the salvation of Alberto Ojeda, Ernesto Alegre, and Juliana.

* For an intense hunger for God in the hearts of everyone in our Men’s Discipleship Group and the church in general.

* For wisdom in regard to the development of the Children’s Ministry of our church.

Developments:

* Last month we received two new pledges of monthly financial support that put us at 46.6% of our budget; after adding one-time donations for this month we received 73.2% of our budget which is 112.6% of our “survival mode” budget—our Lord IS faithful..!

* On June 20^th we had our first Father’s Day celebration as a church body; I was pleased to celebrate it with eight other men of our church.

* On June 22^nd Karla translated for Nancy Galligan on a Counseling Workshop for Women. Nancy came from Calvary of Albuquerque, a church led by Skip Heitzig.

* On June 23^rd we started the book of Hebrews on our Wednesday night service. We are excited about the impact that book is going to have upon us as a church and individually as followers of Christ and partakers of His divine nature.

* Our container finally made it to Lima… On June 24^th we officially opened the container along with the Peruvian custom authorities; a couple of days latter they gave us the tax bill and it was half of what we were expecting it to be—thanks for your prayers and praise the Lord..!

* On June 25^th and 26^th Karla and several of our church women attended the 5^th International Women’s Conference at Gracia Calvary Chapel here in Lima.

* On June 28^th our container made it to our apartment and the chaos started! We’ve been in organizational mode since then, but we’re seeing the light at the end of the “moving” tunnel. For us it’s surreal that we’re erecting our little family abode with familiar things after so long… Thanks to all involved. This could not have happened apart from God’s sovereignty and His enabling you to help us out—thanks again!

* On July 4^th I taught Titus 1 on the Sunday night service at Calvary Chapel Lima covering John Bonner in his temporary absence. I sensed the Spirit of God moving among the people in a mighty way.

* On July 8^th and 15^th I led part of the worship and taught at Calvary Chapel Vida-Lurin on Javier Barrionuevo’s temporary absence. Congratulations on their 4-year anniversary!

* On July 24^th I and a couple of men from our church will be attending Gracia Calvary Chapel’s 2010 Men’s Conference led by Pastor Dan Tuttle from Calvary Chapel Savannah, Georgia. A leader in the women’s ministry of Pastor Dan’s church will be sharing with the women at our church facility on July 21^st.

* Our kids will be staring home school on July 26^th. Sebastian is going on 4^th grade and Daniel is going on 2^nd grade; Samuel will still be kicking about trying our patience for at least one more year before he starts Pre-K…

* On July 28^th Nicole Bromley, a fellow missionary from our home church, will be coming to Miraflores for a month to help us prepare for the arrival of a missionary team from Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale—our home church. The team will be visiting us from August 18^th to August 30^th. They will be blessing us with some much needed church repairs and face lift, as well as, reaching the people of Miraflores and beyond with the gospel of Jesus Christ!

Prayer Needs:

* For a fresh and empowering view of God and for us to be at the center of His will for our lives.

* For our marriage—the enemy has really been coming strong on our family lately.

NEWS LETTER: JUNE 2010

Developments:

* This month we received one new open pledge for monthly financial support. Our official pledged support remains at 45.2% of our budget, but after adding one-time donations for this month we received 69.2% of our budget which is 106.5% of our “survival mode” budget—our Lord IS faithful..!

* On May 17^th I was invited to share at a meeting of Christian Surfers of Lima, Peru. There I shared from John chapter 4 with a group of about 40 men and women that surf the waves of Miraflores.

* On May 22^nd Pastor Guillermo Novoa and his team from ORC arrived in Lima; they stayed in Miraflores. During their stay Guillermo taught in our Sunday service and we visited ORC ministries, feeding centers for poor children, in Rimac and Lurigancho which are very poor areas in the slumps of Lima.

* On June 8^th seven men, including myself, started our first Men’s Discipleship Group. We will be reading and commenting on the book “The Calvary Road” by Roy Hession for the next couple of weeks on Tuesday nights.

* On June 11^th the kids officially finished the school year—Daniel finished 1^st Grade and Sebastian finished 3^rd Grade. They will be taking a month off—they’re thrilled!

* On June 12^th the kids started Soccer. There they’ll get a much-needed physical education and social interaction.

* On June 14^th we finally got DSL installed at home. Now we’re going to be able to stay in touch, through magicJack and Skype, with our spiritual backbone in the US—our brothers and sisters in Christ!

* On June 14^th we had our first Love Visit. We visited and loved on Mr. Alberto Ojeda, an 86-year-old man that lives all by himself in a slump near Miraflores. He’s the father of a sister in Christ that attends Calvary Chapel in Downey, CA.

* After the ship carrying our household and ministry belongings made it to Lima a strike in the port kept them from unloading our container. The ship had to leave with our belongings to Chile before trying Lima one more time on their way back north. The strike is over now and we’re schedule to receive our belongings sometime toward the end of June.

* We’re wrapping up the book of Jeremiah on our Wednesday night service and praying about what book we’re going to study next.

* On June 25^th and 26^th about 10 women from our congregation will be attending the 5^th International Women’s Conference at Gracia Calvary Chapel. On June 22^nd Karla will be translating one of the conference’s guest speakers on a Counseling Workshop for Women.

* On July 4^th I will be teaching Titus 1 on the Sunday night service at Calvary Chapel Lima covering John Bonner in his temporary absence.

Prayer Needs:

* For a fresh and empowering view of God and for His will to be done in our lives.

* For the salvation of Alberto Ojeda, Ernesto Alegre, and Juliana, the waitress that serves us often at the café next to the church. Juliana already went to our church once.

* For an indoor space for the Children’s Ministry—they’re meeting in the open area of the lobby and it’s getting too cold for it… In the past families have come to the church but had to leave because of this problem.

* To find favor with the Peruvian Customs when the container arrives.

* For the forming of the missionary team that is coming to help us in August from our home church, Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale.

* That nothing in us would hinder the work that God is doing in our hearts in this season of abasement.

NEWS LETTER: MAY 2010

Developments:

* Last month we received one new pledge of monthly financial support that put us at 45.2% of our budget; after adding the one-time donations for this month we received 52.2% of our budget which is 80.3% of our “survival mode” budget—our Lord will be proven faithful..!

* On April 10^th my Senior Pastor, Steve Turner, arrived in Lima with a missionary medical team to serve in Lurin.

* On Sunday April 11^th Pastor Javier surprised us with an unexpected Church Handover ceremony in which he officially gave me, before the whole congregation, the rains of Calvary Chapel Vida-Miraflores. I had the pleasure of having the presence of my Senior Pastor, Steve Turner, to teach that day and to lay hands and pray for me. He taught the Bible study that day and the following Wednesday—I translated for him.

* On April 15^th Karla and I went to a three-day retreat for Senior Pastors and wives of all the Calvary Chapels of Peru. We were deeply refreshed, challenged, and blessed by the fellowship with all the Pastors and the teachings of Pastor Bryan Newberry from Calvary Chapel San Diego.

* Our first trip to ER happened on April 18^th. Little Samuel came down with a bug that with his pre-asthmatic condition gave him a scary enough cough that we decided to bring him down to ER for nebulization. After that Karla came down with a virus, high fever, and pink eye, then Daniel with stomach flu, and then Sebastian with strep-throat and high fever. In all $143 were spent in medical expenses. We’re all now acclimatized and healthy, ready to continue to do God’s work here in Peru—thanks for your prayers..!

* On May 1^st some of our best friends and brothers and sisters in Christ did the impossible: in order to be in compliance with the Peruvian Customs, they went to our rented 20-foot storage in the US to do a detailed inventory of every loose item and the content of every box in the storage. They had to open every box, take inventory, close it, tag it, and put it back in the storage..! All of this in preparation to be loaded on a 20-foot container to be shipped to Peru two days later. ‘Thank You, Lord, for putting this team together and for putting the Spirit of wisdom upon them allowing them to carry out this task selflessly and with incredible proficiency… Thank You, Lord’ and thank you team for your love and support!!

* On May 5^th another team assisted us with the mighty task of loading everything from the storage into a container. This is another praise report since God put the team together in a matter of hours to then go through many gyrations in order to make everything fit into the container—it was filled to the brim with personal and ministry belongings; nothing had to be left behind! Amazing—thank You, Lord, and thank you team!!

* On Sunday, May 2^nd, we spent our first night in our new home in Miraflores. We live now within walking distance to the church—15 minutes. Karla and I have a room to ourselves for the first time since January the 2^nd..!

* On May 9^th we had our first baby dedication and our first church event, Mother’s Day Celebration.

* On May 20^th Karla’s mom, Mayo, will be coming to Lima for a three months summer vacation from the Bible College in Murrieta, CA. She will be staying very close by with Karla’s grandma. It will be a blessing for us to have her with us to help in the church and for fellowship—the kids are very excited about the arrival of ‘abuelita’ Mayo…!

* Pastor Guillermo Novoa from ORC, and old friend and supporter of our ministry, will be arriving in town on May 22^nd on a ministry trip. We will have the opportunity to spend time with him and be refreshed with his teaching of the Word from the pulpit of our church on May 23^rd.

* Sometime toward the end of May we should be receiving the container with all our household and ministry belongings.

* We’re gearing up to start a men’s discipleship group in early June.

Prayer Needs:

* For a consistently fresh and empowering view of God to carry our souls through every moment of our existence.

* For the will of God to be done and His kingdom to be further established in our lives.

* For our marriage, our devotional lives, and for our kids to continue to grow in their desire to know God in all His splendor.
